We were nearly shocked and the usual calm of the institute somewhat vanished (temporarily) when we got the news. One very young, talented researcher committed suicide in his room.. reason? Academic pressure! Look at his CV.. always scoring 80%+ throughout his career! A loss for our coutry!
I was told that these kinds of incidents are very (read "more") common in IIT's.. I do'nt know if there is any easy solution to avoid this.. May be timely counselling does help.
